I love Fairy Loot, but it’s been a while since I last purchased one. I knew I needed to get myself a special box to celebrate the one year anniversary, especially when I found out the theme: myths and monsters. If you haven’t seen my first Fairy Loot unboxing, be sure to check that one out as well.
The March Fairy Loot box has a special purple design to celebrate one year of Fairy Loot – I loved the colour and also the cute little story on the inside of the box – it added a really nice touch! The first thing you see when you open the box is the postcard describing what’s inside – I always move that aside for later, because I like to be surprised! You also get the usual “Fairy Scoop” newsletter, a postcard relating to the featured book, an online sample chapter for Fallen by Lauren Kate, and a one year anniversary booklet detailing how Fairy Loot was founded.
So… onto the items! I was super excited to discover that this box contained a set of unicorn and rainbow fairy lights, something that’s never been included before. I love fairy lights so this was an excellent addition to the box and really cute! There was also a scented candle from Geeky Clean – I received a lip balm from the same company in my first Fairy Loot box, and I’ve come to love their products. This candle smells gorgeous as well – if all Nephilim smell like that, I wouldn’t mind being one myself.
I was also really excited to find that the Fairy Loot box for March contained a scarf! I’m a bit obsessed with scarves and this one is lovely and light, perfect for spring, with a design that resembles dragon scales. I would have liked it to be a bit more colourful – maybe blue or purple – but it’s still a really cute scarf regardless.
I also loved the final two items – a mermaid pocket mirror and a set of magnetic bookmarks! Mermaids are one of my favourite mythical creatures so I was really happy with this item, and it’s lovely and colourful. The bookmarks are cute – I’ve always wanted to try magnetic ones, so they’re a nice addition to my growing bookmark collection!
And now, onto the book of the month for March… Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor! I am so happy I received this book, I really enjoyed Daughter of Smoke and Bone (but have yet to conclude the trilogy…oops!) Laini’s writing style is beautiful and the plot of this book sounds really interesting – it features a junior librarian, a mythical lost city, heroes and legendary warriors. Sounds right up my alley. And look at that cover! The UK hardcover is stunning. It has sprayed blue pages and a title page with a signed design. It tricked me at first – I thought the book was signed in pen… but it’s part of the design. I also received a typed letter from Laini Taylor explaining her writing process and inspiration behind the book, which was lovely.
Told you it was stunning! I can’t wait to dive into this book. I’ve also ordered another Fairy Loot box for the month of April, so you can expect another unboxing then! I’m so happy there’s such a quality book box available here in the UK now. For once we’re not being left out!
