I can't believe Cake Off is out next Thursday already! 🍰🐈 This was a book where the concept came to me instantly in a big spark of inspiration. I have never plotted and written something so easily. It was like the story was desperate to be told. At the same time, I often swung back and forth between self-doubt over whether it was any good, and absolutely loving my time writing it. In the end, I'm so proud of Cake Off and what the story became. It's not just about a baking contest and cat-themed desserts (!), but about finding the person who lifts you up in hard times, becoming more confident in yourself, and supporting and looking after the people around you. Hello March!! ✨️🌳 This month I'm writing my Hello March!! ✨️🌳 This month I'm writing my top-secret autumnal romance book and I have until the end of May to hand in my first draft with my publisher, which means writing at least 20,000 words per month! So I'm aiming for 1k every weekday, which is going to keep me nicely on track. I've also been copyediting another wolf shifter romance book for a client. I loveee this genre, so writers please send me more of this if you write it, because I eat them up! 🐺 There have been some very unsettling and stressful things going on lately – a stray cat we were feeding and looking after went missing, and there's health stuff happening in my family. Here's hoping March is brighter. I'm very lucky I have some great work projects to dig into every day (both my own books and manuscripts by my amazing clients). 📚
I broke my phone screen last week, which meant I h I broke my phone screen last week, which meant I had an excuse to both take an Instagram break and sit in Waterstones Café for three hours today doing some writing! The lattes in there are really something else. SO good. ☕️ I like this style of doodling on Instagram posts, so I wanted to try it. This romance book has been the bane of my existence and I'm only 21k words in, so I have to have other creative fun where I can. 😂 In all seriousness, it has been a challenge so far, and I have a deadline to meet. But it seems to be slotting into place now, and I do really love the characters and the concept. I can't wait to share more with you when I can! 💖 For now, just know you can expect more cosiness (of the autumnal variety this time).
